Services

Pujas, offering ceremonies, and various rites and prayers are traditionally performed by the monks. You can request that any of the pujas be performed on your behalf, for family and friends, or for all sentient beings. If you live locally, the monks can perform the pujas either at your home or here at the center.

When members request a prayer at the monastery or invite the monks to their home for a prayer service, the hosts provide transportation, as the monks do not drive. At the end of the service, the hosts may offer them a simple lunch or dinner, joined by their family members. We normally do not have any fees for our services, but members may offer a small personal offering to the monks and a moderate donation for the monastery.

The following Rituals will be available to perform upon request.

Medicine Buddha Puja for health

Tara Puja for long life and prosperity

Mahakala Puja for removing obstacles

Jang-wa Puja for the deceased person

Druk-chu Ma Puja for removing obstacles

Cha-sum Puja for removing obstacles

House Blessing for new homes or business

Once you have requested the prayers you are welcome to attend the puja. The prayer will be conducted in Tibetan. If you would like to request pujas or prayers, please call us ahead of time at (510) 926-3969 or send an email to info@gyutofoundation.org There are some texts available in English with Tibetan phonetics, and you are welcome to recite the prayer with the monks or to simply meditate while the monks are reciting the prayer. Most of the above prayer texts are just over an hour, and if you need to leave the prayer hall, you are welcome to do so.

What to bring: Once you set up your prayer schedule, you are welcome to bring flowers, tea, candles, cookies, and fruits for offerings.

What is the costs for the prayer? We do not have any fees for our services. Services are based on donations. We suggest that you make a small donation to the center and small individual offerings to the monks. If you write a check, please make it payable to “Gyuto Foundation.” All donations are tax deductible.
